Gydget buy pays off for Adgregate in new product rollout

Adgregate Markets, a firm that allows shoppers to make full transactions within banner ads, bought widget-maker Gydget back in January, but is just now releasing its first product that integrates the two companies’ technology, reports VentureWire.

Gydget, based in San Francisco, still operates as a standalone entity, building widgets to deliver marketing messages on social networks. But now Adgregate has combined these capabilities with its ShopAds platform, so that users can carry out transations directly within widgets on networks like Facebook and MySpace. For example, a Gydget widget used by a sports team to advertise upcoming games, could also now sell tickets without directing buyers to a different page.

Based in Sausalito, Calif., Adgregate says it will still provide an ad-supported free version of Gydget for pre-existing widget users. While it hasn’t disclosed any investment history, Gydget had previously raised $1 million from Sunbridge Partners and Felicis Ventures.
